Amadou B.H. Sey Releases HERITAGE

In the reservoir of author Amadou B.H Sey's mind, the concept of heritage is the origin of an antique distant set-up that denotes his source of inspiration. So many factors has urged him to share these deeply rooted human similitude, differences, weaknesses, challenges, joy, love, power, recognition, victory, losses, and success. In his new book titled Heritage, Sey presents a collection of poems from a galaxy of ideas inspired by experiences through journeys within his native land of Africa and beyond.

Heritage includes the eras of pre-colonial, colonial, and independence of former western colonies in Africa, a complexity of culture conflicts caused by historical influences from other parts of the world. As time goes by, the people and their levels of awareness keep on changing. Some things continue to change over the years, for better or for worst, and Heritage is another spectre of contribution that promotes a better understanding, a sensitization, as narrated by the author who lived it.

Each poem in this book paints a poetic picture that decodes and expresses a particular happening, incident and event that directly or indirectly affected Sey or those he lived with. In short, Heritage makes one feel and be part of the life of those people who tries to strive with almost nothing in their hands to survive, despite the odds. Considering the situations or conditions, one finds one self, Sey tries to make his poems a mirror that will reflect human nature, joy, sorrow, fate and faith

Readers will find out that some of Sey's poems in this book refer to the burning issues of this generation. He aptly put it in this form as a wake-up call for today's generation as they face day after day challenges this life brings. Heritage denotes ways and means in ameliorating numerous outstanding doubts. It also refers to historical facts and legacies as it tries to fill the generation gap between the young and old which features many important aspects that make life worth living - especially on politics, ideologies, organisations, democratic values, and social as well as cultural norms.

About the Author
Amadou B.H. Sey was born in the West coast of Africa. He left his native village to attend high school at the Armitage high school and is where he had his first inspiration to write his first poem. In Armitage, he acquired a lot of aspiration and experience which haunted and influenced his life onwards. After high school, he became an untrained teacher at Banjul junior secondary technical school. He was eventually transferred to Saint Augustine's junior secondary school. He joined Action Aid, a UK based NGO for developing countries as he continue to teach in CLCs (community learning centres) at Madina-sasita primary school and Sitahuma primary school. With hard work and competence, he was promoted to headmaster and was transferred to Naode primary school and to Gunjur Kuta. He obtained a qualified, experienced teacher certificate, following six years of in-service training course. After his service with Action Aid, he returned to the ministry of education and was eventually transferred to Bansang primary school. In France, he had two intensive training courses in French called FLE francais langue etrangere with FIDE formation, l'insertion, development et l'education. He continues on a Bilingual English and French course with GRETA, where he attained a professional certificate in translation, public relations and communication. He worked in France for Railrest Company, a high speed train service with Thalys international company. Whenever he is not at work or out with his family, he keeps on writing. His hobbies are cycling, walking, reading, writing, music, watching movies and news on tv. He has five children. He has been on active service, both in Africa and Europe. He now lives in the Diaspora in France.
