As the best high school pitcher in Pennsylvania in 1971, baseball player Dixon White knows he has potential. When a car crash completely changes his life however, his future as a ball player stands on the brink of destruction. Allen Goodrich aims to inspire with his new novel, "Intentional Walk: Part 1" (published by iUniverse).
Ray Gorman, a reporter who sees Dixon's potential before his accident, dubs him "The Can't Miss Kid". Just as things look like they can't get any better, Dixon is in the car crash that drastically changes his life.
With Dixon's little brother needing a costly operation, Dixon finds the strength to attend a New York Yankees tryout a few years after his crash. Once he makes the team, it seems like the sky is the limit - which could be too much for him to handle. Will Dixon manage to stay on top without hitting rock bottom? Can he live up to the moniker given to him by Ray Gorman?
Goodrich is hopeful his story will come across to readers as if being told it by a friend, and inspire in them hope that the human spirit can overcome all odds.
