Author Donna Foley Mabry celebrates the release today of "The Las Vegas Sophisticate," sixth in her Alexandra Merritt Mystery Series. "The Las Vegas Sophisticate" continues the saga of the feisty, redheaded Alex, and the cast of Vegas characters that surround the young casino owner.

From the book jacket:
"In hopes of bringing the high rollers back to Downtown, Mayor Oscar Goodman plans to build a high-rise, glittering casino. He invests everything he has to buy the property and raises the rest of the money from old friends-friends he once defended in court. If his plan doesn't succeed, he stands to lose more than his life savings.

"On opening day, things go wrong, and those responsible wind up dead. Detectives Sam Howard and Jessica Chalmers begin to wonder... Is the Mayor a possible victim, or is he the prime suspect?"

"A sizzling Sin City whodunit." -Norm Clarke, Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist

"Thank heaven this isn't true!" -Oscar Goodman, 3-term Mayor of Las Vegas, Attorney, Author, Actor and Restaurateur

About the Author:
A Michigan native who studied writing in school, Donna first came to Vegas to make costumes and soon was weaving the stories she heard in the back of the girls' dressing room into her first novel. Now she is the author of "The Alexandra Merritt Mysteries," which include "The Last Two Aces in Las Vegas," "The Las Vegas Desert Flower," "The Las Vegas Special," "Rough Ride in Vegas," "M.I.A. Las Vegas," and the newly released "The Las Vegas Sophisticate."

Her most popular novel, "Maude," the best-selling Kindle Direct Publishing non-fiction work of all time, is a #1 best-seller on Amazon and spent multiple weeks on the Wall Street Journal's Top-10 list. Maude is currently being translated into Russian and German, and was recently released in Italian under the title "Non Avevo Scelta."

Donna has an admired series of historical romances, The Manhattan Stories, "Jessica," "Pillsbury Crossing," "The Cabin," and "Kimimela." A fifth in this series will be released soon.

She has written several other stand-alone thrillers, "Desperate Ambition," "The Right Society," and "The Other Hand," and a light-hearted work, "Conversations With Skip," the story of a shelter dog adopted by a young woman having trouble sleeping after her divorce.
