Author Alexandra Lamarre's new book, "Principium: The Stone Prophecy Series" (published by iUniverse), follows the magical adventures of two young witches, Kiarra and Kasy, as they attended school at Hollow Institute for Young Gifted Women.

"The book is about friendship and family, as well as the importance of choices," writes Lamarre. "Throughout the book, both Kiarra and Kasy are faced with different choices and challenges."

After the death of her mother 12 years ago, 14-year old Kiarra worries for her soul. Is she a good witch or is she destined to a life of evil? Kiarra doesn't have too much time to worry though. She has been accepted to Hollow Institute for Young Gifted Women where she meets Kasy, a young girl who has had a very different upbringing than Kiarra. Together, the two new friends embark on a journey to solve the mystery of the dying familiars. Will they make it to the end?

An excerpt from "Principium":

"Kiarra frowned as she walked down the now empty corridor, hoping Kasy was not in trouble. Her hand mindlessly trailed along the wall, feeling the texture of the wood panels beneath her fingertips. Choices, Kiarra mused as she crossed the pathway and watched the second years walking together and frantically talking about the event that would change many of their fates, some more than others."
