Insightful and filled with perspective, Metafolklore takes readers on a unique journey that illustrates the workings of government surveillance, both intelligence and counter-intelligence organizations. Written by Alexander V. Avakov, this engaging book brings to life the experiences of immigrants from the U.S.S.R. as they traverse the path towards freedom in the United States only to find themselves being rewarded by suspicion and the violation of their rights.

Created in an unusual format, this book breaks the barriers that keep the public ignorant about what truly goes on as enforcers jeopardize privacy protection in their quest to utilize surveillance measures. It bravely portrays the modus operandi of various American and foreign government agencies which include; Committee for State Security (KGB), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), National Security Agency (NSA), Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), Al ( the U.S. section of Mossad), and ISI (Pakistani military intelligence).

Discussing the art of modern-world monitoring in the United States, this work discusses the various facets of the legal theory of surveillance and their impact on real life scenarios. Intelligently citing the difference between surveillance and personal intrusion, this book demonstrates how important it is to draw a line in order to protect citizens' rights and privacy. Controversial, this literature exposes the truths behind the history of political spying in the U.S., the trends in today's modern electronic surveillance measures, and their implications on ordinary civilians' lives.
