For centuries, the people had been making the journey out to the Frontier. Out there is freedom to live life the way one chooses. Unfortunately, freedom is never free. As a necessary evil, each colony had to ship resources back home to keep the Earth going. Every year, the Earth's way of life seemed to encroach more and more on the Frontier's freedom. More of their world's materials were taken from them. There was a growing distrust throughout the region as they saw more of their hard-earned work taken from their tired and exhausted hands.
Nowhere was this more true than a colony deep into the Frontier-Colony STR1-FE or Strife, as the people there called it. Its people don't want to be forced into the Helix Network by Earth. They try to send a message to the United Planets of Earth (UPE) that bureaucrats hundreds of light-years away should not run their lives, and so they thought.
The Amaranth, a compelling sci-fi novel written by Alexander Barnes & Christopher Preiman, tells the story of a colony and its people fighting for its freedom from a mandatory type of technology no one had ever wanted and corruption from those who run its system. For too long, the United Planets of Earth have held Strife by the throat. They've assaulted their very freedom by hoping to shackle them with their technology with the Helix earrings. But the people of Strife made themselves clear that they want no part of the Helix Network.
Will there still be hope in the Frontier? Can the people of Strife keep themselves free from this corruption? What will the shocking discovery one Helix agent uncovers mean for the future of the United Planets of Earth?

About the Author
I didn't exactly fit the mold growing up. Couldn't sit still or get my homework done. I can't remember a single time in school where I wasn't in trouble for something. College was out of the question as I spent too much time dreaming about Science Fiction. I ended up teaching myself 3D Modeling and Graphic Design. All through high school I dreamed of a sci-fi series I had hoped to create one day but beyond writing little scripts I was helpless to put my dream into action. Eventually I found myself working in the Mobile Industry Designing Applications and User Interfaces for companies like Samsung and Docusign. No longer struggling, I decided to sit down and write a novel that would be a precursor to those short stories I wrote and never published in High School. I dragged Chris onboard this crazy ride as we had been friends since Kindergarden and seemed only logical to include him. Together we're delivering this story to the world. - Alexander Barnes.
Christopher Preiman was born legally blind in San Jose California. Over the years he has spent way too much time with his mind drifting off to new and fantastic worlds and has no plans to cut back any time soon. He has trained as a chef, massage therapist and several other occupations to embarrassing to mention. During the course of writing this novel Christopher lost the little sight he had had all his life. He now resides in San Pablo California but this is subject to change without notice whenever he feels like it. - Christopher Preiman.
