From June 1970 to August 1984, Albert L. Lamarre combed the western United States in search of geologic wonders. In "Mountains, Minerals, and Me: Thirteen Years Revealing Earth's Mysteries" (published by iUniverse), he shares the adventures and perils that defined his career as a minerals exploration geologist. Lamarre is embarking on a new marketing campaign for the book.

When Lamarre launched a project to clean out his garage, he came across some of his old notebooks, photos and reports. Determined to remember this period in his life, he began taking notes, wanting to share his story with his family. This desire later morphed into the decision to share his adventures with the world.

Highlighting the geologic wonders of the United States, unforgettable characters Lamarre met along his journey and the beautiful landscapes in which he worked, "Mountains, Minerals, and Me" is an all-encompassing look at a profession rarely written about. From an office bombing to being abandoned in the darkness of an underground mine and from a face-to-face encounter with a rattlesnake to staring down the barrel of a shotgun, Lamarre leads readers on an entertaining and varied journey.

By sharing his story, Lamarre's hope is that readers will learn that "life is an ongoing adventure to be seized and appreciated."
