Alastair Craig visually recounts his unforgettable journey to Africa in "A Kenyan Photo Safari" (published by Xlibris UK). The images in its pages constitute his efforts to record and share the excitement of his experiences in Africa, nearly two weeks well spent on photographing the wildlife and learning the culture and lives of the local peoples.

Craig spent more than 100 hours sitting in the back of a Toyota 4x4 truck simply observing and photographing the wildlife in three separate camps within the Kenyan National Parks. His expedition spans from two camps to the north of Nairobi, Elsa's Kopje and Lewa Safari Lodge, and one near the border with Tanzania in the Maasai Mara, the Elephant Pepper Camp. It is the culmination of decades of dreaming about such a trip and the two months spent planning it, and Craig comprehensively documents it with detailed pictures of all the wildlife readers could hope for, alongside images of a Kenyan village school and his own thoughts and moving reflections on the distance still to travel for the youngsters of the next generation to obtain decent life opportunities and education.

Craig composes a visual experience consisting of marvelous images of his travels to East Africa as well as reflections on the childhood experiences that prompted the safari in the first place. He conveys the wonder he felt in his travels, hoping to encourage others to do the same.

Offering iconic images of some of the species most threatened by poachers, "A Kenyan Photo Safari" will appeal to any reader with an interest in the wildlife and peoples of the African Savannah.

His final role was as a head teacher and included designing and seeing to completion a new secondary school for his students. With that complete, he stepped out of teaching to pursue, full-time, his lifelong passion for photography. His personal photo collection covers about 50 years, although he did not start shooting digital until 2005.
