In 2011's "Potters Pond" (published by AuthorHouse), Alan Stoneman's humorous novel which is getting a renewed marketing campaign in 2013, readers are introduced to an eclectic group of people who combine their efforts to protect their golf course from redevelopment

Colonel Foster is angry, and when the colonel is angry people suffer. Usually it is only the members of the West Frittington Golf club of which he is the secretary that suffer. Now, however, it is the town council who is threatening to place a compulsory purchase order to acquire the western side of the golf course to build a reservoir.

Now it is war! The colonel, together with an eclectic group of locals, sets out to protect the territory by any means possible, fair or foul. They send a clear message that one should never underestimate the determination and ingenuity of a group of people that includes a magistrate, a primary school teacher, an accountant, an American Air Force officer, the local estate agent and a very resourceful lady of genteel upbringing. Even the local MP seems to be involved, if only to protect his favorite watering hole. Something is afoot at the golf club.
