Alabama author and haunted collector Kevin Cain has released his newest novel Patty Doll, a supernatural thriller, just in time for Halloween, and fans will not be disappointed!

A current resident of Shelby County, Kevin has possessed a passion for writing and for the paranormal since his early childhood years. He spent his childhood in a haunted home located northwest of Birmingham out in the western part of Jefferson County where he and his siblings experienced paranormal activity. Kevin released a book last year called The Legends Of Indian Narrows which recounts his experiences in his childhood home as well as ghost stories from other houses and areas in his old neighborhood. Another source of inspiration was his fondness for the 13 Ghosts & Jeffery book series written by late Alabama author and storyteller Kathryn Tucker Windham whose books he enjoyed time and again.

Kevin moved to Shelby County a few years ago where he now resides in a home that he has practically transformed into a museum of haunted items. In the past year alone, he has collected thirty-two haunted dolls, two haunted antique paintings and even a haunted antique doll carriage all the way from Arizona. One of the items, an antique doll from the nineteen-eighties that is reported to be haunted by its original owner, was the inspiration for his newest novel.

"My newest novel Patty Doll centers around an author and single dad who buys an antique porcelain doll for his daughter," says Kevin. "Shortly after, he finds out the doll has a little surprise that comes with it: the ghost of its original owner, a little girl who died mysteriously from a drug overdose. Now he must find out what the spirit wants. Is she there to protect his family, or does she mean harm? Meanwhile, outside their home, an even darker force has set its sights on his daughter Hallie, adding more paranormal conflict to the already-spooky situation."

Kevin's collection and his own investigations have really inspired his writing. His last novel Haunts, released earlier this year, was based on real haunted places he visited across the southeast. Kevin also enjoys investigating paranormal locations himself. "I love to go to the places, hear the stories and try to experience it for myself." This past summer, his friend and fellow author Kim Johnston invited him out on some of the investigations conducted by her paranormal group S.C.A.R.E. (Spirit Communications and Research) where they assisted homeowners who dealt with paranormal experiences. "It's always wonderful to help people with these types of experiences in their homes to get to the bottom of what is causing it and determine whether it is indeed something supernatural or just something natural that is causing the issue, like creaky floors or electrical issues." When asked how far he will go in collecting haunted items in his own home museum, he responded, "As far as it takes me."

Patty Doll is available online via paperback and ebook at Amazon.com, Kindle, Books-A-Million, Barnes & Noble and other fine book retailers. It will also hit stores later this month.
