From the African-born poet who wrote "The African Speaks" and "Azania," The African-American and other Poems is a complete anthology of elegiac verses that fully showcases the poetic prowess of Kwasi Osei-Kuffuor. In Osei-Kuffuor's new book, readers get a good dose of extraordinary insights into ordinary realities as seen through his poet's eyes.
Osei-Kuffuor has always longed for the African voice to be heard and poetry was the platform he most effectively used. His poetry "The African Speaks" first appeared in "The voice," a newspaper that brings to the fore issues and concerns of black minority ethnic groups (BME) within the United Kingdom, in 1997, followed by, "Azania" in 1998. Subsequent articles and poetry which described the experiences and challenges of Africans in Diaspora were published fortnightly in "Ghana Today," a United Kingdom newspaper from 2001-2002.
Today, armed with a whole new set of poetic verses, Osei-Kuffuor finally publishes his first compilation of his literary works. As his heart and soul overflows with deeply-felt sentiments, he reaches out to fellow Africans and to all people who are willing to open their own hearts and souls ready to experience the lights and shadows of a world painted by the power of his words.
The African-American and other Poems is a celebration of life in all its blessings and blunders, triumphs and trials. It is Osei-Kuffuor own exhortation to embark on a journey to the depths of the soul where people will discover the truths about themselves and about the world around them.
