In "The Mark Widdowson Blogs" (published by AuthorHouse), author Adrian G R Scott's first religious fiction, readers join a young journalist who falls down the rabbit hole and emerges a changed man.

"The aim of the book is to invite the reader into a creative dialogue between the first century text of Mark's Gospel, the first written account of Jesus' life and death, with 21st century British society," states Scott about his book. "By setting up this encounter I hope to challenge the reader to reassess the gospel and see it and their own life in a new and challenging way."

Mark Widdowson is sent by his editor to follow a developing story in an ex-mining village. It is here that he meets a woman, Jess Jennings, at the centre of the action. Jess was a hairdresser, but has given up that life to lead a revolution as an agitator, healer, prophet and even guru. Mark is bewitched by this powerful woman and soon finds himself falling deeper into what the author calls "the strange phenomenon that is Jess." Readers join Mark on his journey following these mysterious women from South Yorkshire to the Peak District, Harrogate, Birmingham and to a final incredible denouement in the capital.

Through "The Mark Widdowson Blogs," Scott hopes to awaken England's consciousness once again:

"We have, in the UK, largely dismissed Christianity as something that belongs to the past - hidebound and conventional. I wanted, with this book, to show that the message of a gospel like Mark's is revolutionary. By chapter three, in the original text, the authorities are plotting to kill Jesus. I wanted to show that if a person in the 21st century acted like Jesus it would be very likely they would suffer the same fate. The Church may have lost so much of its relevance but the person described in the gospel and in my book still has the power to change our consciousness. I have not written to convert people to any religion, but to encourage, in them, the type of inner questioning that leads to awakening,"
