ABC Reading Eggs has launched its inaugural Read-To-Cure Challenge - an Australia-wide reading event that aims to inspire children to read while raising funds for Children's Cancer Institute Australia.

Taking place from 29 July to 31 August 2013, the Read-To-Cure Challenge is expected to see over 20,000 children participating from home, schools and preschools across Australia. Reading Eggs aims to raise over $100,000 for Children's Cancer Institute Australia.

Reading Eggs CEO Matthew Sandblom says the Read-To-Cure Challenge is a great way to make reading an enjoyable experience for children while supporting an important cause.

"Reading Eggs is proud to support Children's Cancer Institute Australia in their mission to save the lives of all children with cancer and eliminate their suffering. We hope the Read-To-Cure Challenge will not only raise crucial funds for Children's Cancer Institute Australia, but also encourage thousands of children across Australia to read and improve their literacy skills," says Mr Sandblom.

The Read-To-Cure Challenge encourages children to complete as many books and ABC Reading Eggs lessons as they can. Friends and family can sponsor a child for their reading efforts with donations that go to Children's Cancer Institute Australia.

All money raised by the Read-To-Cure Challenge will help support Children Cancer Institute Australia's crucial research into personalised medicine; a new form of specialised treatment designed to increase the survival rate of the 600 Australian children diagnosed with cancer each year.
