EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J.
A former police officer's loyalties are tested when his wife turns out to be the primary suspect in a murder case he is determined to solve in the crime thriller "The Sounds of Death" (published by Trafford Publishing) by A.A. Pecora, which is launching a new marketing campaign for 2014.
Ex-policeman Cody Thomas, now a private detective, is hired by Mr. Hollowell to track Mrs. Hollowell and gather information on her suspected infidelity to be used against her in their divorce proceedings. Things get complicated when Cody discovers that Mr. Hollowell is actually the one cheating; Mrs. Hollowell's reputation appears to be squeaky clean.
Cody turns his attention to Mr. Hollowell and his investigation leads him to a seedy hotel room. The detective occupies the room next to Mr. Hollowell's and hears the unmistakable sounds of violent, kinky sex. The next morning, he finds that Mr. Hollowell has been murdered.
When Cody gets home and tells his wife, Joanna, about the strange events of the night before, she confesses that she was the woman in the hotel room with Mr. Hollowell. She denies having sex with him and claims she had nothing to do with his death, insisting she was only there to collect information that would destroy Mr. Hollowell's reputation. Nonetheless, she is arrested and becomes the lead suspect in the murder case.
Cody has no doubt that his wife is innocent and vows to clear her name by finding the real killer. As he investigates, several more people are murdered, and the detective is convinced all the murders are linked. He devises a plan to capture the killers and set his wife free, but the mob is now involved and his own life is at stake. Will he be able to apprehend the killers and save his wife from a terrible fate?
