During the days of the Roman Empire, three generations of a family deal with poverty, love, war, loss and triumph. Driven by the desire for better lives and a powerful sense of destiny, their stories culminate in the character of Cornelius, a Roman centurion whose friendships with both Pontius Pilate and Jesus destine him to bear witness at the crucifixion.

Though set in the biblical times, the tale tackles universal themes that the author believes resonate with any generation, at any given moment in time. Such themes are the struggle to survive, to improve one’s lot in life, to seek betterment through learning, to share in the successes and failures of family and friends, and to embrace all the tragedy and joy life offers. In addition, familiar characters like Pontius Pilate, Jesus and Judas are portrayed in a non-traditional light.
When asked what he wants the readers to take away from the book, the author says, “I hope this story inspires readers to seek their own truths, and pursue life with vigor, passion, honor, and dignity.”
