Author Elizabeth Eagan-Cox explains that for this novel she took her main character, Shannon Delaney, out of her comfort zone in southern California and sent her up north to the California Redwood Empire, in the region spanning the coastline from of Eureka to Crescent City.

"The plot for this mystery surrounds a shipwreck that happened in the mid-1800s. Shannon is pulled into the mystery from the present-day angle of researching a tavern that once belonged to a survivor of the ill-fated shipwreck. The shipwreck is real and it is one that I have held a fascination with for years, and for which, I have accumulated a hefty folder of research documentation. I hope Shannon Delaney readers will get as much enjoyment out of reading the novel as I did researching it."

Eagan-Cox is quick to point out that the region she used as a setting is rich with historical details. "From the lovely Victorian architecture in Eureka to the intriguing sea-going history and tales in Crescent City, to the burial ground at the Ferndale cemetery... the entire region was perfect for this story. It was a good fit."

To launch the world-wide release of "A Ghost of Brother Jonathan's" Eagan-Cox has coordinated a free contest giveaway on the Goodreads website. The month-long contest begins January 23. The winner receives an autographed paperback edition of the book.
