Now a member of the Canadian Authors Association, eleven-year old Amy Zhang started writing when she was 8-years old. Now Zhang is releasing her debut novel, "Guardians of the Amulet: The War for the Galaxies" (published by iUniverse), inspired by a designer amulet she once saw in a local boutique shop.
"I caught a glimpse of it and my brain immediately went into author mode," she explains. "Afterwards, I drew inspiration from music and other books and stories that I have read over the years."
"Guardians of the Amulet" features an entertaining mix of fantasy, romance, friendship and betrayal, centered on Sable, the guardian of darkness. After losing her colleague and mentor, Sable must gather the next generation of guardians in order to keep the enemies of the galaxy at bay. It is up to Sable to train the four elemental protectors, but the four protectors are already having trouble getting along. Can Sable unite them in time to save the galaxy?
"The book keeps throwing out surprises!" exclaims Zhang. "Just when you think you've figured out some clues, wait until you turn to the next page."
Zhang is working to reach out to other fantasy readers through her blog and published articles. She currently has a press release published to SBWire, and "Girl's Life" magazine plans to include the book on their summer reads list of 10 books recommended for Teen Read Week 2013.
