THREE TALL WOMEN is coming to National Theatre in Bulgaria on January 30th, 2019.

Nine years after the premiere of "The Goat or Sylvia", the cult American playwright Edward Ollie is back on stage at the National Theater - this time with her notorious and award-winning "Three High Wives" for the first time on our first scene.

The play of one of the most popular contemporary authors is played by the young director Stefan Spasov, for whom it will be a debut in the National Theater. Spassov graduated from the National Academy of Theater and Film Arts under Prof. Snezhina Tankovska and Andrey Batashov and later directed by Prof. Krasimir Spassov.

The big news about the show, which will be on March 26th and March 30th on Stage IV, is not only one, because it will mark the return after 25 years of absence of the legendary actress of the National Theater Maria Stefanova who now accepted the invitation of Stefan Spassov and theater director Marius Donkin. The prestigiously elected cast of "Three High Women" are also Viktoria Koleva, Vasilena Vincenzo, Radina Borshoch and Yavor Valkanov.

"I have a great chance to get an invitation from a young director and be supported by the National Theater in the face of director Marius Donkin. I hope you all feel my excitement from this meeting and the opportunity to work with those young people who remind me of my youth and the people I worked with. The role is very complex and if I can manage, I will respect myself, "said Maria Stefanova.

The music for the show is the work of the virtuoso Theodosii Spassov, and the stage design and costumes - by Nina Pashova, which is also involved with the current hit "Caligula". Dramaturg is Dr. Svetlana Pancheva.

"The challenge of putting this play is immense, but I believe that with this team we are ready to do a decent job. I thank Marius Donkin for the chance to work in the National Theater and most of all for the meeting with Maria Stefanova because it is a real example of how one of these years can have a contemporary view of theater, energy and workmanship, preserved and raised talent that does not fade. In the play, I am intrigued by this deep study of the female nature, interwoven in the history of three women who refuse to be a function of their family, husband and children. I would not like to make more of the story, we want the audience to be surprised by what she will see, "said director Stefan Spasov.

Curious detail is that Edward Olby's agents have personally approved each of the actors in the cast for "Three High Women" by asking for details of their height, weight, and of course pictures.

Three of the team of the show participated at one time or another in performances by Olby plays - Maria Stefanova in "Everything in the garden", Victoria Koleva in "Who is afraid of Virginia Woolf". The director of Three High Women Stefan Spassov also starred in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf."

"We are talking about genuinely high drama and I very much hope to be worthy of this text and the challenge to work with an actress like Maria Stefanova. Our young colleagues are also wonderful, rehearsals are a real pleasure, "said actress Victoria Koleva.
