This play, written by Tina Howe, was first produced Off-Broadway in 1976 & was a finalist for the 1982 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play concerns the relationship between an artist daughter & her aging parents. Gardner & Fanny Church are preparing to move out of their Beacon Hill house to their summer cottage on Cape Cod. They have asked their daughter, Mags, to come home & help them move. She agrees, for she hopes to finally paint their portrait. She is now on the verge of artistic celebrity herself & hopes, by painting her parents, to come to terms with them & they with her.
