American Idiot: The Musical at American Repertory Theater of WNY

The Curtain Up! production AMERICAN IDIOT will open on September 8th, running four weeks to October 1st. This power-punk musical based on the Grammy award winning album by Green Day will be directed by Matthew LaChiusa and features the return of Billy Horn (who was director of the award winning BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON) as musical director.

AMERICAN IDIOT features a cast of 10 including Christopher Teal who has been tapped to play the rebel-without-a-clue 'Johnny' aka 'Jesus of Suburbia'. Billy Horn will double-up as musical director and the iconoclastic-bombastic 'Saint Jimmy'. Jesse Tiebor will make his ART debut as the underachieving, bong-hitter 'Will' with Jordan Levin, also making his ART debut, as the idealistic favorite son, 'Tunny'. Sara Kow-Falcone (last seen in ART's BBAJ) will make her company return as the uber-gutter punk 'Whatshername'. The talented Carolyn Lanson also returns to the company's stage as the estranged 'Heather' with Rosemarie Lorenti as the 'Extraordinary Girl'. In their ART debuts, both Ben Caldwell and Melissa Levin will add their talented voices to the production.

American Repertory Theater of WNY will return to the 330 Amherst Street location as the company will call it home for the 2016-17 season and beyond. Debuting the space for the final production of the 2015-16 season, THE HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES, the company will continue to build on the momentum of a successful introductory show with further improvements to the performance space.
