Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) has announced a new host venue for its summer schedule of public development readings of plays from the 2013 Emanuel Fried New Play Workshop (NPW). Beginning today, July 8th, the NPW will present five plays readings at PAUSA Art House, the recently opened café and performance venue located at 19 Wadsworth Street (at Allen). Readings will continue through Monday, August 19th; there will be no NPW readings on Monday, July 22nd and Monday, July 27th.

PAUSA will open its doors every Monday at 6:30 PM and offer a menu of wine, beer, and food. Each NPW reading will begin promptly at 7:30 and be followed by a response session, in which the audience is encouraged to ask questions of and offer feedback to the playwright, in the interest of the ongoing development of their work. PAUSA will also remain open for service after the reading and talkback. Admission to all NPW development readings is free to the public, although RLTP welcomes a $5 donation.

The first reading (today, July 8th) will be The Wrestlers by James A. Estep, read by a cast that includes James Wild, Ellen Horst, Steve Jakiel, Xavier Harris, and John Profeta, under the supervision of NPW Director Kyle LoConti.

NPW Founder and Moderator Jon Elston was enthusiastic about the new summer venue for the Workshop readings. "PAUSA is a vibrant new addition to the local arts scene, with a mission to support local artists that corresponds closely to RLTP's own" said Elston. "So we couldn't be more excited about presenting the work of our playwrights in such a fresh and classy environment."

Subsequent NPW readings scheduled at PAUSA will include James Marzo's Cyrano Of Borough Park, directed by Elston (July 15th); Justin Karcher's Who Was Johnny Appleseed?, directed by Katie Mallinson (August 5th); Susan Fenster's You Don't Know, directed by Greg & Joe Natale (August 12th); and Mary Poindexter McLaughlin's The Buddha's Wife, directed by LoConti, on August 19th. Elston added that more information about individual readings would be available on RLTP's website (www.roadlesstraveledproductions.org).

PAUSA Art House presents jazz, ethnic, and chamber music concerts in a uniquely intimate setting, alongside artistic exhibitions by artists indigenous to Buffalo and its surrounding area. As a complement to the already vibrant nightlife on Allen Street, PAUSA adds a "boutique" entertainment element that encourages intermingling among performers and audience members.

RLTP's Emanuel Fried New Play Workshop supports the development of original dramatic works by local playwrights. Under the supervision of Workshop Director Kyle LoConti and Literary Director Jon Elston, playwrights provide peer support to one another during the composition and revision of their original plays over a nine month period. RLTP then presents readings of these new plays to the public, directed by and featuring some of WNY's finest theatrical talent. Applications for the 2014 New Play Workshop will be accepted beginning December 1st, 2013. Only electronic submissions (via e-mail) will be accepted.
