As part of MusicalFare Theatre's T3 Series and in connection with MusicalFare's current production of A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING, MusicalFare presents "Some Enchanted Evening…." tonight, May 3, 2012, following a performance of A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING at 9 p.m. The event is an informative and lively Talk About the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein, its relevance to today's audiences and the cultural value of musical theatre in general.

The evening's panelists include: Anthony Chase, Theatre Editor, Artvoice, Tom Owen, Actor and 34-year member of Actors' Equity and Randall Kramer, Artistic/Executive Director, MusicalFare Theatre

The panel discussion is FREE; tickets to the performance of A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING that evening can be purchased by calling the Theatre box office at 716-839-8540 or by ordering online at www.musicalfare.com.

Anthony Chase, drama critic, is Assistant dean of Arts and Humanities at Buffalo State, where he teaches theater history and dramaturgy. He earned the Ph.D. in English Literature from the University at Buffalo with a concentration in dramatic literature, and a B.A. in theater from Trinity College, Hartford, where he was President's Fellow in Theater Arts. He's been theater editor at Artvoice for 22 years; longtime co-host of WBFO's Theater Talk; and founder-producer of the Artie Awards, recognizing excellence in WNY theater -- raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for AIDS charities. In 2012, Chase was honored by the National Federation for Just Communities with the award for "Community Leader in the Arts." He regularly lends his knowledge to local theaters, most recently staging seldom-seen King John for Shakespeare in Delaware Park. Chase appeared in, "Buffalo: All the City's a Stage," video produced by the Theatre Alliance of Buffalo and Visit Buffalo Niagara, and recently narrated the Buffalo presentation of The Gay Marriage Plays, staged simultaneously at theaters throughout the world. He provided leadership for Buffalo State's acquisition of the Studio Arena Theatre archives, and the Madeline Davis GLBT Archives. Chase has been the ghostwriter for a surprisingly diverse range of prominent WNY leaders, and often lends his wit as master of ceremonies for such organizations as Empire State Pride Agenda, Embrace WNY, and (before they told him he had gotten too old) Gay and Lesbian Youth Services.

Tom Owen, a 34-year member of Actors' Equity Association, is currently appearing in MusicalFare's A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING. On the MusicalFare stage he has been seen as "Charlemagne" in PIPPIN, "Vincent van Rhine" in EAT-TV and "Caldwell B. Cladwell" in URINETOWN for which he won Arties for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Musical for each performance. He has been seen on the stages of Artpark, as "Harold" in THE FULL MONTY, "Sir Evelyn" in ANYTHING GOES and the musical reviews COLE and AND THE WORLD GOES 'ROUND. He has also been on the stages of Alleyway Theater, Kavinoky Theater, Kaleidoscope Theater and Theater of Youth. Tom has also been seen on the stages of the Hollywood Playhouse and Caldwell Playhouse in Florida as the "Innkeeper" in MAN OF LA MANCHA. He narrated THE CARNIVAL OF ANIMALS and appeared as "Mayor Shinn" MUSIC MAN for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. He appeared in the KING OF QUEENS episode "Altar Ego" as the minister with Rachel Dratch of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. Other favorite roles include: "Lutz," THE STUDENT PRINCE; "Max," THE SOUND OF MUSIC; "Narrator/Mysterious Man," INTO THE WOODS; "Reverend Crisparkle," THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD; "Frankie Cavalier," PAGEANT; "Sergeant of Police," PIRATES OF PENZANCE; and "Tom," SUBURB - just to name a few.
