RLTP Announces Selected Playwrights For 2009 Emanuel Fried New Play Workshop

Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) is pleased to announce the Western New York playwrights who have been selected to participate in the 2009 Emanuel Fried New Play Workshop. They are: Dana Block, Cindy Darling, Phillip Durgan, Hunter Fernandez, Donna Hoke Kahwaty, Justin Karcher, AaronKrygier, Alex Livingston, Melissa Mawhinney, and Wendy Weinstein.

RLTP's Emanuel Fried New Play Workshop supports the development of original dramatic works by local playwrights. Under the supervision of Workshop Director Kyle LoConti and Literary Manager/Resident Playwright Jon Elston, playwrights provide peer support to one another during the composition and revision of their original plays over a nine month period.

RLTP then presents readings of these new plays to the public, directed by and featuring some of WNY's finest theatrical talent. Audience members whoattend these readings are invited to enjoy a glimpse of tomorrow's world premiere productions and to offer their constructive feedback-an integral component of each playwright's process.

Plays previously developed in the Workshop include Darryl Schneider's War Room, (2007Artie Award Winner for Best New Play), Melody Von Smith's Bonegrinders (2008 ArtieAward Nominee for Best New Play), and this season's A Little Bit Of Paradise, by Annette Daniels Taylor (2009 Artie Award Nominee for Best New Play).Applications for the 2010 New Play Workshop will be accepted beginning December 1 st , 2009.
