Quick Silver Theater Company, now in its second year, will focus on playwrights of color. Their first project in the new year will be a Playwrights of Color Summit (POCS). QST's submission process took place at the end of 2015. Founder Tyrone Mitchell Henderson says, "The submissions that we received are all beautiful meditations on themes that include spirituality, community, love and its many forms, race, religion and radicalism."

The Playwrights of Color Summit will take place in Geneva, New York. Geneva is Henderson's home town. The venues hosting the Summit include Hobart and William Smith College, The Smith Opera House, The Geneva Community Center and Trinity Episcopal Church. Three Playwrights, casts and creative teams will be granted a week long development period which will culminate in a staged reading. These readings will take place on Saturday and a follow up Q and A style talkback will take place on Sunday. Admission to the reading series is FREE.
Quick Silver Theater Company's Playwrights of Color finalists include:
Conversion Rate by Sergei Burbank, Holy Intervention by Shashone Lambert and Tolstoy's Daughters by Guadalis Del Carmen. Our semi-finalists included Organization of Dunsinane by Jimonn Cole, A Prayer by Dwight R.B. Cook and Stewart and Lamb by James Tyler.
Cast and director information will be announced at a later date.
According to Henderson, "The Playwrights of Color Summit is a place for the playwright to hear their words and develop their work. QST wants the conversation surrounding these plays to be fruitful. It can only help that Geneva is in the middle of the Finger Lakes regional theater circuit. Every new play submitted to the 2016 Summit is worthy of this opportunity."
