The Nazareth College Theatre and Dance Department and Theatre League will present Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's Company.

Set in 1970, the musical centers on perpetual bachelor, Bobby, on the eve of his 35th birthday. With three "girlfriends," he is seemingly unable to commit in his romantic relationships, and spends the show examining, not only his own relationships, but the relationships of five married couples, all of whom happen to be his best friends. Differing from traditional "book" musicals, Company is considered the first "concept" musical, composed of a series of short vignettes with no apparent order.
Having directed the concert version of Carousel in 2016, Trey Compton returns to Nazareth College as director and choreographer of Company. Compton's numerous off-Broadway and regional credits include Yank! (associate director), White's Lies (associate director), City of Angels (director), and the New York premiere of Christopher Durang's Mrs. Bob Cratchit's Wild Christmas Binge (director). Corrine Aquilina, Assistant Professor and Program Director of Musical Theatre at Nazareth serves as Music Director.
"In this production we have set our lead protagonist, Bobby, as a photographer; an analogy for the activity as a constant observer," says Compton. "He's always behind the lens looking in and never in the foreground."
Debuting on Broadway in April 1970 with Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and Book by George Furth, Company earned a record-setting 14 Tony nominations, winning six, including Best Musical and Best Score. The 2006 Broadway revival took home the Tony for Best Revival of a Musical.
Sondheim's groundbreaking musical continues to prove its relevance today, examining the intricacies of relationships, the institution of marriage, and how individuals continue to search for and discover themselves everyday.
The musical's cast features Justin Smith (Bobby), Sara Hayward (Sarah), Demetrio Alomar (Harry), Abby Voss (Susan), Vinny Capluzzi (Peter), Abby Prem (Jenny), Maya Scheutz (David), Kaitie Buckert (Amy), Dylan Kastel (Paul), Isabella Bertoni (Joanne), Ian Patterson (Larry), Anna Kostakis (Marta), Cassidy Halpin (April, Dance Captain), and Regan Stacey (Kathy).
