Kitchen Theatre Company announced that it is expanding its Pay What You Can Night program for the 2014-2015 season. This program allows patrons who might not otherwise be able to afford a ticket to pay the amount that works for them. Kitchen Theatre Company will be able to double the number of Pay What You Can tickets available this season thanks to the generous support of program sponsor Agava Restaurant.
The first Pay What You Can Night of the season will be this Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 7:30 PM for a performance of the world premiere of The House by Brian Parks. Pay What You Can tickets are available on a first come, first served basis on the evening of the performance. The theater box office will open at 6:30 PM, one hour before the performance.
The House is a scathingly outrageous new comedy about a home sale gone terribly wrong. Downsizing couple, Martyn and Shanny, have struck a For Sale By Owner deal with upsizing couple, Lindsay and Fischer. At the start of the play, Martyn and Shanny are hosting a celebratory champagne toast to the younger couple, replete with a ceremonial handing over of the keys. But what begins as the celebration of a simple transaction spirals into a hilarious, irreverent, uncensored free-for-all. Hold on to your seats, as the best of intentions unravels, revealing surprise after surprise after surprise! The House is directed by Margarett Perry with a cast of Kitchen Theatre Company veterans: Matthew Boston, Elizabeth Meadows Rouse, Matthew Bretschneider and Dana Berger. More information about the play can be found at www.kitchentheatre.org or by calling the Kitchen Theatre at (607) 272-0403.
