The Jewish Repertory Theatre of Western New York presents: "Communism, Radicalism and the Arts," a panel discussion to explore the historical impact McCarthyism and Communism had on artists and their art.

ABOUT THE PANELISTS:
Dr. Saul Elkin: Dr. Elkin is the co-founder and artistic director of the Jewish Repertory Theatre and has appeared in and directed many JRT productions in the 14 years since the theatre began. He is the founder and artistic director of Shakespeare in Delaware Park and was chair of the SUNY Buffalo's Theatre Department from 1971 - 1985.
Dr. Michael Frisch: Michael is UB Professor of American Studies and History, emeritus. His recent work in oral history and new media technology has developed through his consulting company, The Randforce Associates, LLC. He is co-author of the prizewinning Portraits in Steel (1993), a collaboration with Buffalo's great documentary photographer Milton Rogovin, an artist whose life, work, and struggles were so rooted in the very issues Amy Herzog explores in After the Revolution.
David Marciniak: David will be playing the character of Ben Joseph in JRT's upcoming production of After the Revolution. He was most recently seen as Old Shepherd in The Winter's Tale (Shakespeare in Delaware Park), Col. Pickering in My Fair Lady (Lancaster Opera House) and King Death in Opera Sacra's final production of Joan of Arc at the Stake. David is a registered nurse and provides case management for the homeless and indigent.
Kurt Schneiderman: Kurt is the founder & artistic director of the Subversive Theatre Collective. He currently teaches the craft of playwriting as part of the Creative Writing Program at Canisius College, and has been a playwright, theatre reviewer and has worked for Studio Arena, Shakespeare in the Park, New Phoenix, Kavinoky, Lightsedge, the Buffalo Ensemble Theatre, Theater of Youth, and IndiGo Productions as everything from director, lighting designer, stage manager and even stage-building grunt.
