The Jewish Repertory Theatre opens its 2016/17 season with 4000 MILES, the first of three productions in a season of Amy Herzog plays. Ms. Herzog will be attending the opening night performance on Thursday, October 27.
4000 MILES, a finalist for the 2013 Pulitzer Prize in Drama, and winner of the 2012 Obie Award, Best New Play, winner of the 2012 New York Times Outstanding Playwright Award and winner of Time Magazine's #1 Play or Musical of 2012, runs October 27 - November 20, 2016 at the Maxine and Robert Seller Theatre, JCC Benderson Family Building, 2640 North Forest Road, Amherst, NY.
4000 MILES tells the story of 21 year-old Leo who, after suffering a major loss on a cross-country bike trip, seeks solace from his feisty 91 year-old grandmother Vera, in her West Village apartment. While Leo seeks support during his time of loss, Vera finds companionship for the first time since the loss of her husband, Joe. Amy Herzog's 4000 Miles is a compassionate, intimate, and frequently funny play that examines the love of the family we can choose, the family we can't, and the healing power of trust.
4000 MILES is directed by JRT Artistic Director Saul Elkin and stars Marissa Biondolillo, Ellen Horst, Sara Kow-Falcone and Nick Stevens. Brian Cavanagh is Lighting Designer, Kari Drozd is Costume Designer, Tom Makar is Sound Designer and Stephen Sheehy is Set Designer and Property Master. Amelia Scinta is Stage Manager, Jessica Lake Mason is Assistant Stage Manager and Teresa Allesandra is House Manager.
The Jewish Repertory Theatre of Western New York is a program of the JCC of Greater Buffalo. This season's original artwork is created by artist Eta Rottenberg.
