Downstairs Cabaret Theatre is pleased to announce its next production, THE BOOK OF LOVE, on stage at 3450 Winton Place April 28-June 12, 2016.
Written and directed by award-winning author and composer Oliver Blatt, THE BOOK OF LOVE is a hilarious, heartwarming new musical comedy exploring the unique and crazy world of catching and keeping your perfect mate. From starting as a young couple, to dealing with the first awkward date, to marriage proposal and planning the wedding, to keeping the spark alive, THE BOOK OF LOVE covers it all with original songs that will tickle your funny bone and tug on your heartstrings.
THE BOOK OF LOVE won Best Original Musical in the 2009 ABE awards, and the cast features Stephanie Rubeo, an audience favorite in last year's DCT production of The Bikinis.
Adam and Evelyn are a somewhat old-fashioned couple who receive Dr. Undroy Sigfried's "THE BOOK OF LOVE" from their respective mothers. Following the self-help book's advice, the couple takes chances on "Win That Date," searches for romance at a fancy restaurant, and disagrees over wedding plans. But don't worry - the couple will be married in a happy ceremony at the close of act one. The second act shows a more dynamic relationship between Adam and Evelyn. Tempers wear thin, and the couple enters therapy, where they finally realize that the only thing to do to rekindle their flame is to fondly recall early days of love and laugh at life.
