Road Less Traveled Productions announces the return of its popular 2009 family offering, A Charlie Brown Christmas: The Music of Vince Guaraldi. The evening of music, comedy, and dancepresents the classic holiday jazz album in a festive, family-oriented production.

Directed by Doug Weyand (who assumes the reins from original director Scott Behrend), the evening presents the entirety of "A Charlie Brown Christmas," the hugely popular soundtrack album by the Vince Guaraldi Trio, performed by a live jazz trio and children's chorus and presented in a theatrical framework. "This is an album that was originally released in 1965," said Behrend, "but it's never gone out of print or out of style. This is music that we look forward to hearing every year during the holidays... in fact, it's one of the few defining albums of modern Christmas music."
The concert features such instantly recognizable Guaraldi originals as "Christmas Time is Here" and "Linus & Lucy," as well as traditional standards that were re-imagined and re-immortalized on the album, like Guaraldi's transcendent takes "O Tennenbaum!" and "Hark, The Herald Angels Sing."

The production is hosted by actress and dancer Bonnie Jean Taylor, returning from her effervescent appearance in last year's production. This year, Taylor is working with Weyand to more completely integrate the supporting cast of young local performers from WNY elementary schools into the choreography and dramatic presentation of the evening's material. "This year's production is even more well-rounded than last year's, with several surprising and delightful new additions," said Behrend. "So even if you caught the show last winter, there are plenty of great reasons to enjoy it again!"

Once again, Taylor and the kids will be supported by the Julie Arlotta Trio.

"A Charlie Brown Christmas is a timeless holiday classic," says Behrend, "and this production captures all of the magic of Vince Guaraldi's music. It's perfect family fun for the holiday season!"

A Charlie Brown Christmas: The Music of Vince Guaraldi will begin on Friday, November 26 and run through Sunday, December 19. Show times run Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30PM, Saturdays at 4:30PM and Sundays at 2:00PM.
