Presented by American Repertory of WNY, Directed by Matthew LaChiusa, HATFUL OF RAIN, is written by the Academy Award nominated actor known from GODFATHER II (Frank"Five Angels" Pentangeli), Michael V Gazzo. Starting out as a Broadway playwright and writing for film (including the screenplay for Elvis Presley's KING CREOLE), Gazzo was an instrumental figure in the Actors Studio and went on to film and TV acting until his death in 1995.

HATFUL OFRAIN is three solid acts of powerful drama that features the acting talents ofArtie Award winning actor Hugh Davis (JESUS HOPPED THE A-TRAIN and ART's recentproduction of LITTLE ROBERT) as a Korean War veteran fighting his morphineaddiction and with his wife, played by Maura Nolan (fresh ART's BLOODY BLOODYANDREW JACKSON), try to cope with his addiction to morphine in the form of heroin.

Included in the cast are Raphael Santos, Artie Award winner Victor Morales (THE GUYS), Leo Dibello, Monish Bhattacharyya and Steve Brachman (BLOODYBLOODY ANDREW JACKSON).

This urban story of hope, dopeand love is set in thelate 50's in New York City where veteran Johnny Pope struggles to find peace inhis new life but his addiction brings a rollercoaster relationship withhis pregnant wife, hisself-effacing brother and ever demanding father. His situation is complicated by a group of unsavory dealers who enableJohnny with an opportunity to escape his troubles.

Powerful, gripping and stackedwith talented actors, ART is sure you will enjoy this classic play tobegin the "SecondHalf" of the 2013-14theater season!
