In keeping with American Repertory Theater of WNY's mission statement of supporting a new generation of American Playwrights, ART is proud to announce, through the Erie Canal Harbor Development, the Young Playwright showcase July 2013 as part of the summer programming on Canalside.

Featured playwrights in this year's festival include writers Matthew Kindely, Kalani Kapahua, David J Moran and Emily Cutler.

Matthew Kindley's "10 Minutes" is an existential pondering facing a young man in a moment of purgatory. Directed by Mark C Lloyd "10 Minutes" features the acting talent of Alan Trinca, Michael Leszczynski, Justyne Harris and Jamie Nablo.

"Cut Like a Buffalo" is a clever piece written by Kalani Kaphua. One sister who lives her life out of LL Bean catalog and another one who is happy clearing $15,000 a year confront their rivalry in the face of a charging Bison herd. With the acting talents of Justyne Harris and Claudia Casciani Gioia, returning YPF director Jennifer Fitzery rounds out the production.

Returning playwright Emily Culter showcases the reason why she has been selected two straight festivals with her humorous story of backstage romance in "An Awkward Hookup". Directed by last year's finalist, Connor Graham, "An Awkward Hookup" reflects the 20-something's idea of relationships and emotional connectivity.

David J Moran's "Mixed Signals" sees a geeky, superhero-pajama-clad nerd professing his love for a beautiful gal who always seems to choose "the wrong guy". Directed by Mark C Lloyd, the piece features the acting talents of Thomas Sullivan and Jamie Nablo.

Semi-finalists Matthew Henderson ("A Walk on the Beach") and Aidan Ryan ("A Eulogy") will have their piece recorded for the Voices of WNY Internet Broadcast.
