The American Repertory Theater of WNY presents the Young Playwrights Festival at the Buffalo Canalside's Historical Ruins today, July 16th-July 17th & July 23rd-24th, 2-5 pm. The festival features works from playwrights under the age of 25 as their works are fully produced. Both Buffalo-born Stefan M Brundage and Connor Grahams will represent WNY talent as Alabama writer Emily Cutler and Pennsylvania-born Matthew Henderson round-out the finalists for the festival.
Stefan M Brundage's HERE'S LOOKING AT YOU KID is a one-act about a young man's valiant attempts to vie for an older woman's attention, Emily Cutler's DROPPING THE QUESTION finds two young adults overcoming ever-present miscommunication found in a world of texting, Matthew Henderson clever and zany THE DATING GAME finds two folks and a frustrated waiter reluctantly find that one should never judge a book by its cover, and Connor Graham's abstract THE WAITING ROOM is a Durang-ish look at sexual tolerance in the great beyond.
Overall the four day dedicated to developing young playwrights is a great way to spend time on Buffalo's Canalside with a comfortable chair and one's favorite adult beverage.
