Brooklyn-based choreographer Faye Driscoll is interested in excess, emotionality, and the messier aspects of what it means to be human. In her hyper-theatrical and subversively intimate trilogy Thank You For Coming, performers and audience members come together in a shared space of culpability and care. This season, Driscoll—this year’s Harkness Foundation Artist in Residence at the BAM Fisher—makes her BAM debut with Play, the second piece in the trilogy, performing with five dancers to explore the fractured nature of language. Moving in the spaces between what we say and what we mean, they interrogate the capacity of words to render and reduce our lived experiences.
