!?:New Works -- the spiritual successor to The Exponential Festival -- is a month long festival of New York's best experimental artists and theatre companies presenting brand new work.

Performances take place April 3rd - 29th in Vital Joint at The Silent Barn. !?:New Works fosters collaboration between New York performing artists and encourages aggressive experimentation amongst a wildly supportive network of fellow artists.

Each evening of performance will include 1 to 4 pieces, with varying combinations of the following artists and companies: @lphaminus, Nic Adams, Boom Bat Gesture, Spencer Campbell & Jaime Lutz, G. Lucas Crane, Darian Dauchan, Joe Hendel, Harold Lehman, Gian Marco Lo Forte, Diego Medellin, Claire Moodey, Clara Pagone & Timothy McCown Reynolds, Katy Pinke, Tim Platt, Lorelei Ramirez, Theatre in Exile, Third Space Theater, Title:Point, and Jeff Tobias.

Nic Adams presents Icarus in the L.E.S. April 10 & 16

Icarus in the L.E.S. (work in progress showing) is an epic performance-poem that picks up where the myth left off. It presents Icarus - having never died when he fell from the sky - but instead living on, badly crippled. At present, he finds himself in Manhattan looking for respect and notoriety as an artist among the world's most mystical poets. The excerpt that will be shared at !?:New Works is a teched-out poetry reading featuring live field recordings of NYC street sounds and a performance by Isabella Sazak.

BOOM BAT GESTURE presents VLAD & CYANNE April 16

Familiar faces from BOOM BAT GESTURE Performance Group's Blankland! spin off into a musical Cabernet duo where the cabaret is flowing! Eldress Cyanne is joined by adopted fairy-godson Vlad to bite juicily into themes of elder-as-other while ensuring every single body's funk to be solidly on!! Trigger warning: Stories.

BOOM BAT GESTURE Performance Group has been developing and performing new shows in NYC since 2011. Past works include Cthulhu's House of Z (HERE, Dixon Place), ZOOM Thousand Time (Incubator Arts), BLANKLAND! (Triskelion Arts), and their ongoing, episodic performance Screen Eyed Baby Ice (multiple venues). Their work has been supported by the Jerome Foundation and Salem Art Works.

This production of VLAD & CYANNE comes as a companion piece to BLANKLAND!, BBG's kid's show for adults, to be performed at Triskelion Arts on April 28 & 29.

Spencer Campbell & Jaime Lutz present Immortality is Ad-Supported April 16, 19 & 23

A dying woman undergoes an experimental medical procedure which promises to let her live forever. It's free, with a catch: from now on, her waking life will be ad-supported. A comic nightmare and an unlikely love story, Immortality is Ad-Supported is a reason not to skip the commercials.

G. Lucas Crane presents THE TAPE OF PROPHESY April 4

THE TAPE OF PROPHESY about a tape DJ who is mixing tapes into a soundtrack of forgetting to forget the apocalypse that has occurred outside. in the mix, he is first mixing to forget, but then he gradually has to mix to deal with the Myth he heard about the existence of the TAPE OF PROPHESY, said to contain AN EXPLANATION, or an OMEN, or THE PASSWORDS to something important. This one tape is the BIG MAGGUFFIN and will solve/explain everything. He realizes that he might be the CHOSEN ONE who gets to PLAY THE TAPE OF PROPHESY. By the end THE TAPE OF PROPHESY is brought to him in a procession, and he plays it and receives the gnosis.

Darian Dauchan presents The Brobot Experiment 19, 20 & 29

Poet, musician, and solo performer, Darian Dauchan in a work in progress, performs songs from his soon to be released concept album, Brobot Johnson: Bionic Boom Bap. With his RC-505 Loop Station Dauchan creates a musical landscape of live vocal loops that include beat-boxing, rhyming, singing, and electronic sound effects. The Brobot Johnson Project with the support of the All For One Theater is a Sci Fi Hip Hop transmedia piece that follows the whimsical adventures of Brobot Johnson. Half droid. Half brotha. All soul.

Joe Hendel presents "I'm Yours to Love" (fka "I'm Yours to Torture") Or Vice Versa April 17, 28 & 29

Loosely based on Racine's Andromache, this live video/theater performance tackles the subject of love. Video by Suchan Vodoor.

Pioneers Go East Collective presents GEMINI stars {[Real vloggers& (self-identify)] + [who decides on banning people from coming out (?)]} on April 14

A new theatre and media work by Pioneers Go East Collective and directed by Gian Marco Lo Forte. The work is based on LGBQT vloggers coming out on YouTube, interwoven with the performers' personal narratives of growing up as Queer teens. The work addresses issues of self-acceptance and self-identity vs gay bashing on social media...a funny and sour performance reflecting on what the LGBQT community has achieved (or not) using social media...

The artists involved include millennial queer artists who you may have seen this past year at American Realness, La MaMa Puppet Fest, Jack and more: Jose Rivera (singer, dancer, social media performer & storyteller), Rebecca Hidalgo (dancer), John Gutierrez (dancer & storyteller), Paris Alexander (storyteller), Ryan Leach (social media performer & storyteller), Julia Dobner- Pereira (co-writer, singer & storyteller) & Generation X artists: Gian Marco Lo Forte (director/ writer/ design/ storyteller) and Daniel Diaz (dancer & storyteller).

For the in progress showing at !?:New Works, Pioneers Go East Collective would like to present 25 minutes of personal narratives, songs and dance that celebrate Queer identity.

On April 22nd an official FULL MOON Night and Earth Day - Diego Medellin will present the moon.

MOON. is an ongoing personal exploration project where both the imagination and space travel are questioned.

A movement and media piece set in current time but willing to use elements of early space travel.

Claire Moodey presents femme pathos April 12, 13 & 20

femme pathos is an autobiographical play inside my brain about my relationship with my mother who is clinically depressed and gay. By digging into the process of becoming and unbecoming my mother, bumping into assumptions and social norms I learned as a kid, femme pathos attempts surgery on the pathology of femininity and homosexuality. Clara Francesca & Timothy McCown Reynolds present Making Mrs. Marx April 12 & 13

Clara Francesca takes her own unusual but thrilling approach to introducing us to Jenny Marx, the wife of philosopher Karl Marx. We're witnessing the birth of a character on the stage and her destruction before the end. It's not straight-forward biography but a glimpse into the soul of a woman who was devoted and supportive of her husband until she discovers his betrayal. Directed by Timothy McCown Reynolds, actor, director, artist and playwright local to Brooklyn NYC. Timothy has studied with Jim Kirkwood, Ryszard Cieslak, and Louis Scheeder. Tim Platt presents A Series of Conversations April 22

Tim Platt is a comedian and performance artist who makes work grounded in entitled perspectives, blank presence and animals. A Series of Conversations is exactly as it sounds: a series of conversations between Tim and himself as well as Tim and others. Theatre In Exile explores the relationship between history, memory and death that has no mercy in their new intermedia work-in-progress tentatively titled Amerigo '13. Director Samuel James Wilson reunites with composer Lon Kaiser (from TIE's The Big Mzungu of Kilwa Kivinje), video designer Patrick Flynn, and performer J Molière (both from Mountain Language at The Silent Barn) to create an investigative and theatrical journey into the landscape of the American psyche.

Harry Fine and Harvey Finkler are two gay scientists reunited by fate to prove the existence of the monster Kragtar to the United States Congress, which refuses to acknowledge the beast, even as its trail of tears leaves national monuments, organic grocery stores, and the bodies of seemingly-innocent Catholic school girls crumbling in its wake.

We Hate The Counting Crows - Blake Bolan, Theresa Buchheister and Sarah Graalman unify under the most obvious theme/title, and go from there - into the internet, the universe, ballsacks and beyond.
