THE REHEARSAL ARTIST BY MICHELLE ELLSWORTH
JANUARY 9-11
A small group of audience members surveils a dancer who is simultaneously: 1) watching reenactments of scenes from 2001: A Space Odyssey, 2) participating in a mash-up of some of the most canonical social science experiments of the last 50 years. Occasionally, an eight-foot-high wooden wheel assists dancers as they rotate in the sagittal plane with their nose as the axis. Each rotation tests the viability of the constructed environment the dancers inhabit and allows the audience to reconsider the nature of stability. Knee aprons, one-way surveillance glass, Mormon temple rituals, and a wooden bikini help prepare the audience for shifts in perspective and other revelations related to death.

SEED / POND BY HALSEY CHAIT MARCH 10 - APRIL 22
The oldest bridges were logs and stepping stones. Balancing across them allowed a traveler to pass from one side to another. SEED / POND is an exhibit that seeks to bridge the divide between internal and external perception by offering large-scale algorithmic ink drawings to ponder as well as the opportunity to physically navigate through a gallery-wide floor drawing installation.

THE FLOATING WORLD BY EMMA SULKOWICZ MARCH 10 - APRIL 22
Ukiyo, or "the floating world," describes the hedonistic culture of kabuki theater, geisha, bath houses, and pleasure quarters in Japan's Edo period. It is homophonous with the Buddhist term for "this world of sorrow and grief." The Floating World is an exploration of the meaning of support. When people experience pain or trauma, their loved ones "hold them together" and "lift them up." The installation consists of a series of glass orbs, suspended and connected in a hybrid style of shibari and ukidama, or Japanese fishing floats. Each orb holds a floating artifact of the artist's relationship with a member of their community.
