South Brooklyn Shakespeare to Bring MACBETH to Park Slope This Saturday

Now in its 5th year presenting free Shakespeare in the streets of Park Slope, South Brooklyn Shakespeare opens its five-performance run as the main event of Park Slope Fifth Avenue's Summer Stroll #2 with Shakespeare's great tragedy MACBETH, featuring the supernatural, combat, blood and darkness, all of it contributing to Macbeth's fall.

Plus, start the evening by watching or competing in the "Beat the Boss" Empanada Loca 2nd Annual Eating Contest.

It all takes place this Saturday, July 29: Summer Stroll 5pm-9pm; Macbeth starts at 6:30 pm; Empanada Contest at 5:30.

Macbeth plays at Fifth Avenue @ 18th Street, Park Slope. Empanada Loca is located at 606 5th Ave at 17 Street, and the Summer Stroll festivities take place on Fifth Avenue between 12-18 Streets.

Four nights when a stretch of Brooklyn's Fifth Avenue closes to cars and opens for local fun and festivities, transforming Fifth Avenue into a big block party. All Summer Strolls feature food and drinks from local bars and restaurants served open air, sales from local shops, live music and dancing in the streets, vintage car show, street yoga, giant rock climbing wall, bouncy house, mini golf, photo booth and a new pop-up park-in-the-street (a turf lawn 79-feet long that will be unrolled on the street).

Summer Strolls are sponsored by the Park Slope Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District and the NYC D.O.T. as part of their Weekend Walks program.

Founded in January of 2009, the Park Slope Fifth Avenue B.I.D. represents a dynamic commercial and residential corridor whose borders stretch 30 blocks from Dean to 18th Street in the heart of Park Slope, Brooklyn.
