Repast Baroque Ensemble Presents Bohemian Fantasy Concerts  Image

Repast Baroque Ensemble will be in concert, performing Bohemian Fantasy, Friday, May 4 at McKinney Chapel, First Unitarian Church, 116 Pierrepont Street, Brooklyn Heights and Saturday, May 5 at Advent Lutheran Church, 2504 Broadway at 93rd St. in Manhattan - 8:00 PM both evenings.

Inspired by the improvisatory, imaginative, contemplative, and funny works by the Baroque era's great Bohemian virtuosi, Repast explores the music of Biber and his contemporaries, and offers a response of their own in the form of a written-out improvised fantasy. Works by Biber, Schmelzer, Gottfried Finger, Buxtehude, and Purcell, with an original work by Repast.

Performers will be Repast members Amelia Roosevelt, baroque violin, Katie Rietman, cello and Gabe Shuford, harpsichord, with guests Hélène Plouffe, baroque violin and Jessica Troy, baroque viola.

Founded in 2003 in New York City, Repast has performed as part of Miller Theatre's Bach and the Baroque series and at the Getty Center in Los Angeles; Bargemusic; the Miami Bach Society; the Minneapolis Institute of Arts; Peak Performances, and many other venues. Baruch Performing Arts Center presented Repast in an annual three-concert series from 2004-2016. In 2015 Repast added a new concert venue in Brooklyn Heights, and in 2016 began to perform at Advent Lutheran Church on the Upper West Side.
