Random Access Theatre (RAT) is bringing actors getting wasted on stage to a whole new level of classiness with Drunk Restoration Comedy! Following on the success of the One Night Only fundraising event in September, Random Access Theatre is pleased to announce that the drunken fun will continue as they partner with The Players Theatre for a six month run starting March 4th, 2016. Join RAT the first Friday of every month at 10pm at the Players Theatre as they thrust their artistic associates along with some very special guests onto the stage, shot glasses in hand for an audience interactive staged reading of the best known works of the Restoration era.
First up is Oliver Goldsmith's "She Stoops to Conquer." A comedy of manners meets a comedy of errors, "She Stoops to Conquer" was first performed in London in 1773. Filled with one part young lovers courting, two parts parental scheming, a dash of mistaken identities, stirring clever dialogue and a touch of satire, RAT takes Goldsmith's most popular play to new lows when the actors become completely un-done with the help of gin, wine, beer, and rum. Part scripted, part improvisation, the March cast featuresMike Gregorek, Neil McNamara, Anna Grace Carter*, Jessica Mosher*, Erin Leigh Schmoyer, A.J. Cote, Paul Mitchell Wilder*, Kevin Percival*, and Christopher McIntyre (*Denotes Artistic Associates of Random Access Theatre). The cast will utilize a
combination of their professional training, both on stage and off (in the bar), as audience members "choose-their-own-adventure" by deciding which performers will have the most mighty hangovers come Saturday morning.
The season will feature a both RAT Artistic Associates as well as a rotating cast of some of the best improvisers and comedians on the NYC circuit. The season will feature John Ford's "Tis Pity She's a Whore" in April followed by "Star Wars Shakespeare: The Empire Striketh Back" in time for May the 4th celebrations, will then continue with Richard Sheridan's "School for Scandal" in June, a Bastille Day production of Moliere's "The Misanthrope" and will close with Aphra Behn's "The Rover" in July. Come for the booze, and stay for the comedy! Drunk Restoration is an event not to be missed!
The Players Theatre is located at 115 Macdougal Street. Tickets are $10 and include one complimentary drink. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.drunkrestoration.com/
