Random Access Theatre (RAT) is bringing actors getting wasted on stage to a whole new level of classiness with their one-night only event: Drunk Restoration Comedy! Join RAT on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 7pm at the Triad as they thrust their artistic associates along with some very special guests onto the stage, shot glasses in hand for an audience interactive staged reading of Oliver Goldsmith's beloved comedy "She Stoops to Conquer." This one-off event is being held to raise funds for RAT's upcoming production of "Patronage" which will premiere this December.
A comedy of manners meets a comedy of errors, "She Stoops to Conquer" was first performed in London in 1773. Filled with one part young lovers courting, two parts parental scheming, a dash of mistaken identities, stirring clever dialogue and a touch of satire, RAT takes Goldsmith's most popular play to new lows when the actors become completely un-done with the help of gin, wine, beer, and rum. Part scripted, part improvisation, our artistic associates will use a combination of their professional training, both on stage and off (in the bar), as audience members "choose-their-own-adventure" by deciding which performers will have the most mighty hangovers come Friday morning. Artist Director Jennifer Sandella said "She Stoops to Conquer continues Random Access Theatre's ongoing theme of strong heroines who take control and 'conquer' their own destinies. Oliver Goldsmith's satirical take on humanity has had enduring appeal through the centuries ... Plus it's really funny." She continued, "We look forward to seeing just how much the audience will encourage the actors to drink and the hilarity that will ensue."

About Patronage- A Fairy Tale: Written by Kati Frazier and Directed by RAT's Managing Director Corrine Woods, "Patronage" is a three person, one-violin fairy tale that explores the relationship between love, sexuality and the written word. There is a suitor who loves a countess. A writer who loves someone lost. And a countess who loves words. Passionately. Desperately. And literally.
