Puppetworks is pleased to announce the fall presentation in its Park Slope, Brooklyn Theatre: the most internationally famous of all faery tales: "The Sleeping Beauty."
Adapted by Puppetworks' Artistic Director Nicolas Coppola, "The Sleeping Beauty" is an authentic Faery Tale (one that includes faeries in the story), and features a large cast of hand-carved, wooden marionettes in costumes and settings typical of the European Medieval period.Written in 1697 by Charles Perrault, "The Sleeping Beauty" tells the tale of a princess cursed, by a wicked faery, to sleep 100 years, after which, thanks to the Queen of the Faeries, to be awakened by a Prince's kiss.
The play is accompanied by music from Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's immortal ballet score.
