Bridge Street Development Corporation (BSDC), a Bedford- Stuyvesant-based nonprofit community organization, held their ninth annual Fresh Start Home Resource Expo on Saturday, June 30th, at Boys & Girls High School in Brooklyn. The free event provided area homeowners, first time homebuyers, renters and tenants with housing-related resources, information and workshops presented by nonprofit organizations as well as city and state agencies.
Nationally Syndicated Radio Personality Lenny Green, "The Quiet Storm", broadcast locally on WBLS Radio (107.5FM) opened the morning panel discussions which featured real-estate expert Gloria D. Sandiford, Corporate Broker and Vice President at Flateau Realty and Tamika Stembridge, Executive Director, dfree® Global Foundation, Inc. a nationally known organization. The five-hour event included interactive displays conducted by Renewal by Andersen Windows and Lowe's. Additional support was presented by NYC Department of Housing Preservation, Foodtown, United Healthcare, New York Life, Fillmore Real-Estate and Modern MD.
Founded in 1995, BSDC evolved out of Bridge Street AWME Church's more than 200-year-long history of community service. Now an independently-operated community development corporation, BSDC staff and volunteers work tirelessly to improve the lives of central Brooklyn residents.
