House of Yes and Ensemble LPR invite guests to experience a performance of 'Black Angels' curated by Ricardo Romaneiro featuring electric string quartet, harp, clarinet and percussion paired with film, visuals and theatrics. With this performance, House of Yes launches their new immersive classical event series called Opus Concert Series in partnership with renowned composer Ricardo Romaneiro (artistic curator) and sound engineer Leo Leite (technical director).

For Opus 1, the series breathes new life into George Crumb's 'Black Angels' composition as the centering work performed by Ensemble LPR. 'Black Angels' draws from an arsenal of sounds including shouting, chanting, whistling, whispering, gongs, maracas, and crystal glasses. The composition takes the spectator on a haunting and mesmerizing voyage of the soul from 'Departure' (fall from grace), 'Absence' (spiritual annihilation) to 'Return' (redemption), accompanied with film noir projections by CHNNLS of Little Cinema.

The evening's program pairs chants from Hildegard Von Bingen ('Fauvis Distillans') channeled by vocalist Daisy Press, and electro-acoustic art songs by Ricardo Romaneiro ('Nocturnal Suite') with words and vocals by Hannah Sumner featuring visuals by Christian Hannon alongside a performance byVasko Dukovski. Closing the concert is a collaboration between composer Ricardo Romaneiro and sound engineer Leo Leite called '12 Volt Ghost' featuring vocal angelic soundscapes to powerful syncopated rhythms and dissonant harmonies orchestrated for full ensemble. Special theatrical and stunning aerial performances produced and performed by House of Yes aerialists will accompany the evening's musical offerings throughout the night.

Brazilian born Ricardo Romaneiro is a highly respected New York based composer with a Masters of Composition from The Juilliard School who seamlessly blends classical and electronic music intertwined with percussive South American beats. Aside from the LPR Ensemble, his music has also been commissioned and performed by the Museum of Modern Art's Summergarden Series, Metropolis Ensemble, New Juilliard Ensemble, Colorado Ballet, the Sacramento Ballet, and more which has earned him the attention of The New York Times, Esquire Magazine and a live broadcast on NPRfrom the Prospect Park Bandshell as part of the Celebrate Brooklyn! summer concerts.
