As we approach the November 2018 Midterm Election, Me The People, a hilarious and uproarious musical parody about the Trump White House is back with a brand new Fire and Fury Edition in NYC this Summer & Fall with performances July 24-November 6 (Election Day) at The Laurie Beechman Theatre (407 West 42nd Street). Featuring book & lyrics by 5-time Emmy Award-winner Nancy Holson, Me The People originally premiered in 2017 just as Donald Trump's first 100 days in office came to an end, reacting in real time to the chaos in the White House (playing 5 months Off-Broadway to rave reviews). From his Crony Cabinet, to his Supremely Radical Court, to White House grifters Ivanka & Jared, no one is spared. The show also offers a hilarious diagnosis from Sigmund Freud and a tour de force earful from Hillary Clinton.
This new production of Me The People will be partnering with several candidates across the nation for special Fundraiser Performances to help raise money & awareness for candidates and to help get out the vote in the crucial upcoming Midterm Election.
The show proudly had audiences laughing through their tears in 2017, and now people can see this sleek, new version of the show with 7pm performances on July 24, July 30, August 7, August 14, September 11, September 18, October 16, October 30, and November 6. Tickets are $35/General Admission and $50/VIP Seating, plus a $20 food & drink minimum (doors open at 6pm). They can be purchased online at www.MeThePeopleMusical.com.
The original show took a musical swipe at the characters and issues who were front and center in the early days of the Trump administration. The new Fire and Fury Edition brings the comedy up to date, featuring everything that's happened since Inauguration Day in a breathless jaunt through the last 1 year, 177 days (and counting). The show promises to make Never Trumpers laugh through their tears. Original Off-Broadway cast members Aiesha Dukes and Mia Weinberger will be joined by newcomers Ashley Leon, Joe Marx, Jimmy Robertson and Vanessa Robinson. Musical direction and arrangements are by James Higgins. David Rigano and Nancy Holson co-direct and it's produced by Firenze Productions (Amy Holson-Schwartz) and Marc L. Bailin.
Me The People features a score of laugh-out-loud political parodies of beloved songs like Hotel Mar-a-Lago (Hotel California), Twitter Bird (Rockin' Robin) and Freedom of the Press (The Sounds of Silence).
