The production opened on December 1st and will run through December 10th.
Narrows Community Theater, one of Brooklyn's longest running community theaters, will bring its audiences a true holiday treat: Alan Menken's musical version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
Continuing the tradition of celebrating this special time of year with heartwarming productions like Miracle on 34th Street and Elf, NCT is ringing in the holiday season in true theatrical fashion with its upcoming rendition of Dickens' well-known tale of the incorrigible Ebenezer Scrooge. Whether you're familiar with the Alastair Sim movie, the movie-musical starring Kelsey Grammer or even the Mr. Magoo and Muppets versions, A
Christmas Carol remains a timeless lesson for people of any age. Its story is one of redemption, as three spirits visit Mr. Scrooge on Christmas Eve to show him the meaning of compassion before his miserable life passes him by.
Marking the final production of its 52nd season and boasting a mixture of local Bay Ridge talent and professionals from the Manhattan theater scene, A Christmas Carol is sure to delight audiences who truly wish to experience the possibility of unbridled joy this Christmas season has to offer.
Director/Choreographer Chris Carver makes a triumphant return to NCT, marking his third show with the troupe this year. His past credits include Something Rotten and Nunsense, both of which received numerous accolades for their high caliber of talent and direction. Carver was also celebrated for his directing style in Los Angeles, even being named best director of the decade by fans for the 2020 Broadway World Los Angeles Regional Awards.
This also notates the first time in NCT history that a single director has overseen an entire season. "Chris has been tremendous to work with this year - our first full year of shows since the pandemic. His creativity, his overall vision for each show, and his ability to be clear in his expectation of the cast has made it easy for us to work with him for all three of our mainstage shows this year." says Steve Jocobs, President of Narrows Community Theater.
With this show, Carver emphasizes the darkness of Scrooge's life and the effect on everyone around him. The large cast consists of many of NCT's favorite actors from the recent past, many new faces and a few actors who have come back after many years. Ethan Smith-Cohen joins as Musical Director, having recently graduated from the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory; this show marks Ethan's New York debut. Joanne Centeno serves as the production's Stage Manager.
