The Bushwick Starr will present acclaimed dance-theater artist, Jennie MaryTai Liu's newest work, and New York City premier of Actress Fury, a passion play of one tormented actress as she takes on the role of herself. The audience sits inside a dressing room encircled by mirrors, as three female performers contest with their own deep-seated desire to be extraordinary. The actress navigates an obstacle course littered with difficult conditions: physical suffering, sexual obsession, self-love that loops into doubt, and fear of fateful intervention. Dramatic scenarios unfurl through dance to reveal an anti-strategy about wrestling with ambition and being female in this 21st century moment.

Actress Fury is performed by Hannah Heller (Nellie Tinder, Savion Glover), Jennie MaryTai Liu (Big Dance Theater, Witness Relocation Company), and Alexa Weir (Jmy James Kidd, David Fernandez). Created by Jennie MaryTai Liu in collaboration with Hannah Heller and Alexa Weir; visual design by Tanya Brodsky; original music and sound design by Julia Bembenek and Mark Nieto; lighting design by Laura Mroczkowski; costume design by Wendy Yang Bailey; and stage managed by Ben Gullard.

Tickets are $18.00 at www.thebushwickstarr.org
