JOHNNY AND THE DEVILS Box Square Dance and Fundraiser Announced at Jalopy

Johnny, a young fiddler from the mountains, must contend with a death in the family, the threat of the law, a hijacked fiddle contest and the loss of his true love on his way to becoming the greatest fiddle player anyone has ever seen. But how will he fare against the greatest threat of them all, the Devil himself? Inspired by the myths of fiddlers' dealing with the Devil, the piece takes a hard look at the association between a virtuoso's egotism and hellish temptation.

Written by Douglas Waterbury-Tieman with direction by John Hurley, choreography by Jennifer Jancuska and music supervision by Scott Wasserman. Recent developments include a Rough Draft Workshop at The Drama League in collaboration with "Jennifer Jancuska + The BringAbout", a residency at Goodspeed's Johnny Mercer Writer's Colony, and an upcoming Spring workshop at Belmont University May 13-19th.

This concert and fundraiser will benefit the team's upcoming workshop at Belmont University in May. There will be performances by Ben Clark (composer of the musical The Circus in Winter) and his band The Long Shadows as well as original numbers from the show, a silent auction and a live square dance with caller Lance Olds. Each ticket comes with a complimentary beverage!

Douglas Waterbury Tieman (Creator and Writer) recently appeared in Roundabout Theatre Company's THE ROBBER BRIDEGROOM as an onstage musician and clogger. His other recent theatre credits include; ONCE, SEAWIFE, A CHRISTMAS CAROL, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, LOST HIGHWAY and COTTON PATCH GOSPEL. Jennifer Jancuska (Choreographer) Resident Choreographer of Broadway's HAMILTON and choreographer of James Presson's newest play, FMK (Less Than Rent Theatre) with director Sash Bischoff. Jennifer will also continue directing and choreographing productions for Sea World/Busch Gardens, producing BC Beat, leading Broadway Connection as co-artistic director, and choreographing ASTIR Labs. John Hurley (Director) hails from Macon, Georgia and works as a freelance director for the stage, film and TV from the smallest theater to national commercials for companies such as Google, PwC and Delta. John is the founder and Artistic Director of Ready Set Go Theatre Company.
