This grant from the Howard Gilman Foundation will help support CPR's Artists-in-Residence and Technical Residency programs. These CPR incentives address the critical need for accessible space for performance development in New York, providing artists with resources that maximize innovation and creative experimentation.
CPR is an artist-driven, nonprofit initiative co-founded by Jonah Bokaer | Jonah Bokaer Arts Foundation and John Jasperse | Thin Man Dance. CPR addresses the critical need for space in New York City's creative landscape and is committed to building arts infrastructure that nurtures contemporary performance. At the same time, CPR provides a sustainable model for livability in New York City with a focus on community involvement and environmental responsibility. CPR's 1,845 sq ft theater features a LED lighting system; making it simultaneously one of the most technically advanced and accessible performance venues within New York City. Located in a 4,000- square-foot mixed-use arts facility in Brooklyn's first L.E.E.D.-certified green building of its kind, CPR provides affordable space for rehearsal and performance, innovative arts programming, education, and pedagogical engagement with the communities of New York City and abroad.
In addition to the Howard Gilman Foundation, CPR is grateful for the support of other prominent funders including the Mertz Gilmore Foundation, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, New York State Council on the Arts, New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, National Endowment for the Arts, as well as generous individual donors.
