Brooklyn Music School Announces Registration For The Musical Theater Program Spring 2018

Brooklyn Music School (BMS) announces open registration for their Spring 2018 Musical Theater Program for children ages 6-13. The program culminates in a final performance of To Dream A World on June 23, 2018 at 3pm.

"The BMS musical theater program offers a unique opportunity for young actors to participate in original works incorporating acting, singing, and dance that are staged at a high level of production value in the BMS Playhouse for the Brooklyn community," said Piruz Partow, executive director of Brooklyn Music School. "We are particularly excited about our spring production, which will bring Shakespeare's imagery and poetic imagination to life in a way that children can relate to and captures the sense of wonder that informs every child's natural creativity."

Brooklyn Music School offers a range of programs to introduce young performers to

musical theater including the Music Theater Program for children during the school year, as well as, the Summer Vocal Arts Program led by Program and Artistic Director, Lina Tetriani.

Previous productions include: Annie Jr, Cupid's Arrow, and Little Red Riding Hood.This spring BMS musical theater will be producing an original musical called

To Dream a World, which will draw on images and characters found in Shakespeare's work and tells a story of a young boy named Will, who finds inspiration in his dreams.

The program runs Saturdays 2pm - 4pm from April 7 - June 23, 2018 at Brooklyn Music School, 126 Saint Felix Street, Brooklyn, NY, and is divided in two sections, for children ages 6-7 and children ages 8-13. BMS's Musical Theater Program is designed to introduce children into the world of musical theater and performance through a 12-week intensive course that culminates in a fully produced performance of a musical production at the

This program is open to all children ages 6 - 13, who have the desire to share the stage with fellow child performers. Classes are taught by teachers with world-class backgrounds in musical theater, opera, dance and performance. Each child will have a role in the final production and/or performances at BMS concerts.

The program is defined by the philosophy that every child can find their creative voice on stage, combined with intensive training in the fundamentals of vocal performance and building a dramatic vocabulary that ties with their emotions and lived experience.

"To Dream a World" tells the story of a young boy named Will, who finds his inspiration in his dreams. Full of meaning and fantasy, the four imaginative worlds he explores represent the four seasons. This is where he meets the characters that later end up in his plays.
