Brooklyn's brightest stars shine on the same block as Matilda and Phantom of the Opera in Voices 2013, the fourth annual concert of Bay Ridge Vocal Studios. This year, the program's final concert moves to one of off-off Broadway's most recognized venues, the Producers Club in Manhattan. Pianist and composer Dan Furman returns for his second year with the celebrated Brooklyn school of voice.
Mary Elizabeth MiCari's vocal training ground gets bigger every year. Beginning in a church basement along the BQE in Brooklyn, Ms. MiCari's burgeoning vocal program moved to Genesis Repertory's Block Theatre the following year, then to the concert stage of the Bay Ridge Jewish Center, and now in the Producer's Club's Crowned Theatre. Where to next year, Mary?
The roster of talent gets better each year as well. Making their debut this years is:

Rafael Sochakov - a recent émigré from Israel, this Russian born vocalist shows signs of going from Voices to The Voice.
Returning are
Ashley Chico - who won great acclaim as a finalist in last years Teen idol.
Joseph Conway - who is well on his way to a professional career with recent New York stage appearances in Norma Jeanne Unlighted, and Nightmare Haunted House
Isabella Sirota - the high school of performing arts freshman became her stage career at age 7 and has never looked back
Felix Gonzalez - after appearing in last year's concert, he was tagged to play a major role in the upcoming film, Metro Cats: Veronica's Birthday. He now writes original music and will premiere a new piece at the concert.
Christine Conway - the celebrated character actress and designer will add new works to her repertoire (she is also currently costume designer for an independent film and a new stage play).
Kristin O'Blessin - has been with Bay Ridge Vocal Studios and genesis repertory for almost a decade. She created roles off-Broadway and on film and is a celebrated dancer as well.
Sherry Geidd - a recognized local artist Ms. Geidd uses Bay Ridge Studios has her springboard into the professional realm.
Special guest
Erica Vasaturo, lead singer for the Mick Watley Band, began studying voice with Ms. MiCari in the aforementioned church basement and today she is a professional musician. She will present a new piece at the concert soon to be on her new album.
Mary Micari can easily be called an arts journeyman. She has Broadway credentials that include Aida, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Little Women, Wonderful Town, Light in the Piazza, Wicked, and Spamalot; She founded two theatrical companies; sung in numerous operas and musicals; portrayed many of Shakespeare's queens - Elizabeth in Richard III, Gertrude in Hamlet, and Lady Macbeth - off-Broadway; and recently completed her first CD. She founded the school with partner
Jay Michaels. Together they operate Genesis Repertory, a non-profit professional arts organization with an educational program, a classical stage, and a film company. This year, they will be opening a center dedicated to healing through art.
